This week's GMW-TV show aired May 23, 2002

This week's program opened with a recap of the split between "Rocket" Fred Curry, Jr. and his now-former partner, Debonair Cruz. The two long time friends and tag team partners split, apparently for good, at the recent GMW event in Littleton, NH.

The opening match this week featured one half of the SouthEast Connection, Kid Mikaze squaring off with Debonair Cruz. Although there was some audio difficulty in the early part of the match, none other than Fred Curry himself joined GMW-TV host Lou Bordeaux for some color commentary. During the commentary, Curry continually laid the blame on Cruz for failing to wrest the GMW tag titles from The Egomaniacs, not once but twice. Curry also made it known that he wants a shot in the ring at Cruz. Meanwhile, in what was an exciting match between two legitimate high flyers, Debonair Cruz outlasted Mikaze with a Northern Lights suplex into a reverse neckbreaker for the victory.

This week's TV main event was a very special Champion vs. Champion match as the reigning GMW Champion, Maverick Wild took on the King of the Mountain TV Champion, "Golden Greek" Alex Arion. Calling this match "a classic" does the match no justice. If you didn't see the TV show this week, you absolutely need to have this one in your collection! Go to T C Tapes and order yourself a copy of this one! These two men went hold for hold in one of the most exciting matches in Green Mountain Wrestling history. Late in the match, The Egomaniacs ran in and caused the match to be ruled a no contest. Once again, the team of Idol and Steele, although they've started looking beyond tag team gold, showed that they are still the most lethal combination on the independent scene today.

The program came to a close with Maverick Wild in an interview segment. Maverick mentioned that this was by far the best match that he had ever had. He said that Alex Arion was no doubt the most accomplished opponent he'd ever faced. He was irate that Jonny Idol ran in and attacked him. Wild then issued a challenge to Idol for the GMW Championship at United We Slam, coming to the Municipal Building in Newport, VT on Saturday June 29th.
