Green Mountain Wrestling is just two short weeks away from "United We Slam!", at the Municipal Building in Newport, VT! This week's TV main event featured a preview of the main event at United We Slam, as "Irresistible" Jonny Idol takes on Maverick Wild for the GMW Championship.
Opening this week on GMW-TV, we got a look at the SouthEast Connection of "The Dude" Mark Malibu and Kid Mikaze, the new GMW Tag Team Champions. Malibu and Mikaze are making their very first title defense on GMW-TV tonight when they meet Nyghtmare, Inc. (Kirk Roberts and Zach Simmons). The SouthEast Connection had previously signed contracts for a match against Nyghtmare, Inc. The SouthEast Connection told the GMW-TV website that they intended on honoring any outstanding contractual obligations they had prior to United We Slam. Nyghtmare, Inc. are no pushovers as Kirk Roberts pinned Kid Mikaze on GMW-TV back on February 28! This time around it was a different story as Mark Malibu was in the ring with Zach Simmons. Kirk Roberts had gone to the top rope while Simmons held "The Dude". Malibu was able to duck out of the way of a flying headbutt which in turn, knocked Simmons down and out. The SouthEast Connection followed up with their impressive double team finisher and it was all over for Nyghtmare, Inc. The SouthEast Connection are successful in their first title defense!
Next up was a battle for the GMW King of the Mountain TV Championship as the champion, "The Golden Greek" Alex Arion, met the #1 contender and one half of "The Egomaniacs" in Mike Steele. This was an unbelievalbe match as both men poured on the offense throughout the match. At one point, Arion went to the top rope and signalled for a Tornado DDT, when Steele held on and reversed into a rolling suplex! However, a bit later in the match as Arion applied his version of the rolling guillotine, "Irresistible" Jonny Idol ran out from the locker room area causing a disqualification. This feud is far from over, and GMW President Sean O' Reilly has signed the rematch for "United We Slam!" coming to Newport, VT on June 29th!
This week's TV main event featured the GMW Champion, Maverick Wild defending the title against "Irresistible" Jonny Idol who earned the #1 contender's spot on last week's GMW-TV when he prevailed in a 30 man Battle Royal. Mike Steele accompanied Idol to the ring. When Maverick saw this, he went to the locker room to get somebody to watch his back, none other than Alex Arion! With both Arion and Steele keeping an eye on each other from the outside, there was nothing but 1000 mile an hour action in the ring! Wild, who suffers from damage to his upper back and neck, was in control until Idol was able to gain control by aggravating Wild's existing injuries. Eventually, Mike Steele caught up to Alex Arion and knocked him down enabling Steele to hop up on the ring apron long enough to prevent Maverick from applying his "Wild Thing" full nelson slam on Jonny Idol. Arion in the meantime got up and caught Steele, pulling his legs out from under him on the ring apron, leaving Idol to be brought back to center ring by a Wild full nelson, followed up by the slam for the pinfall and the victory! Maverick Wild remains the GMW Champion! Keep in mind that Scott Dickinson wasn't at ringside for either of his men's matches on GMW-TV this week, but he will be in Newport on June 29th!
