This week's GMW-TV show aired June 20, 2002

Green Mountain Wrestling is proud to present United We Slam! this coming Saturday night, June 29th at 7:00PM at the Municipal Building in downtown Newport, VT. Recently on GMW-TV, we've seen some issues which have led to the signing of two separate main event caliber matches as Maverick Wild will defend the GMW Championship against one half of The Egomaniacs in "Irresistible" Jonny Idol. The other match pits the GMW TV Champion, "The Golden Greek" Alex Arion against the other half of The Egomaniacs, Mike Steele. Green Mountain Wrestling hasn't been live in Newport since Vindikation last February, and by all accounts Vindikation was the best show in GMW's six year history. United We Slam! promises to eclipse Vindikation for pure excitement and as always the absolute best talent available on the independent pro wrestling circuit today!

With that being said, GMW-TV opened this week with a look back to "A Fight at the Opera" which was held recently in Littleton, NH. "Brutal" Bob Evans was coming back for his first match after GMW President Sean O' Reilly levied a 30 day suspension against him. Evans' opponent was the very popular Mark Vincent. The highlight shown was where Evans resorted to his predictable vicious ways as he aggressively took control of the match. Evans attacked the defenseless referee and went back to work on the already injured Vincent. President O' Reilly was at ringside as the color commentator for GMW-TV and he said that he had no choice but to go into the ring to physically restrain Evans. After that clip was shown, Evans was on camera with an interview where he has challenged President O' Reilly to a scientific, submission style match at United We Slam! Perhaps "Brutal" Bob has bitten off a bit more than he can chew with this challenge. O' Reilly, although not having wrestled in many years is a former champion from other areas of the globe. President O' Reilly is also a martial arts expert and former shoot fighter! On the other hand, it's possible that Evans has something up his sleeve as he added the stipulation to the match that the loser in this contest has to take a vacation away from GMW rings! Back in March, GMW lost owner Gary Langevin in an on-camera role. Who will be next? Bob Evans or Sean O' Reilly? Join GMW this Saturday night in Newport to find out!

The opening match on the program this week featured Bob Evans against Antonio Thomas. Evans perhaps trying to prove to President O' Reilly, who was again at the commentary table, that he also knows some submission wrestling focused his efforts on Thomas' arm. Several times it looked like the less experienced Thomas might be able to make a comeback, but each time, Evans was equal to the challenge. Evans also exhibited quite a feat of strength when Antonio went for a flying cross body block and Evans caught him in mid-air! Evans then turned that into a sidewalk slam before catching Thomas in his patented "Ugly Stick" finisher. Evans calls the "Ugly Stick" a "pedigree with attitude", and he hit the nail on the head with that, as it was all over for Thomas after that. After the three count though, manager Scott Dickinson distracted the referee, then Evans went back to work on Thomas' arm once again. As was the case at the top of the show, President O' Reilly charged the ring and Evans and Dickinson quickly ran off.

Up next, former GMW Champion Tarzan Taylor was being interviewed. Taylor has continuing issues with Jeff Goodspeed and as he was verbally attacking Jeff's brother Sonny Goodspeed, Sonny ran into the interview area like a bolt of lightning! Although there happened to be an official in the ring, the two then engaged in a bitter struggle. Sonny, who was still in his street clothes, removed his belt and start to whip Taylor! When Taylor got up from the attack, he knocked out the referee and then all hell broke loose. Sonny had picked up the 260 pound Taylor for a slam and as he got him up to shoulder height, the cowardly Scott Dickinson ran up behind Goodspeed and kicked his legs out from under him. Taylor quickly followed it up with a "Taylor Bomb" and Sonny Goodspeed was laid out. Challenges were issued and expect more fireworks from these two this Saturday night at United We Slam!

In somewhat of a surprising move, President O' Reilly then announced that Green Mountain Wrestling would now also have a Women's Division! He added that at United We Slam, the Women's title will be on the line as two of the best that the region has to offer will meet for the honor of becoming the first GMW Women's Champion! Squaring off will be the very popular Mercedes Martinez against Trinity H. Campbell. These two have fought all over New England over the course of the last couple of years. Never has a title been on the line in any of their previous encounters, but this time there will be as one of these women will be crowned as the very first GMW Women's Champion!

This week's show came to a close with a highlight package from one of their previous encounters, held at last year's NECW "Big Slam on Campus 2" from Randolph, VT. Mercedes gained the upper hand in their feud with a win on that occasion. Fast forward to present day and in the women's locker room at this week's TV show, Campbell snuck up and attacked Martinez and left her laying. It looks like Trinity has a long memory and will be bringing her "A" game to Newport next Saturday night!
